Soil Carbon Sequestration

About the project
Current Situation
The problem of overgrazing leads to long term damage to ecosystems, including the soil. This results in a lower carbon ratio in the ground, which affects the ability to store water, especially important for dry periods. Inadequate farming practices also impact the wildlife that depends on plants that will not grow anymore. People in undeveloped nations are often not aware of common land management practices that could make their farming activities more sustainable. As a result, they unknowingly damage their own land making it unusable for decades. The lack of knowledge about essential resting periods soil needs results in further damage to the ground, which contributes to the release of additional carbon into the atmosphere. The solution to this problem is to educate people about farming techniques that are more sustainable and efficient.
Project:
Focusing on Drakensberg Escarpment in Mpumalanga, including the most spectacular landscape in South Africa, we remove carbon from the atmosphere and simultaneously maintain beautiful land on our planet. In addition, our credits will be eligible for use as 'Offsets' in the South African Carbon Tax schemes.
