Reforestation and Protection

About the project
Current Situation:
Forests are the largest producers of oxygen on the planet, storing and converting 3% of all annually occurring emissions. Over decades and centuries, they have accumulated huge amounts of CO2 in their biomass and soil - which is one of the reasons why life on land can thrive. Nowadays, over 10 million hectares of forest are cleared annually, releasing billions of tons of emissions into the atmosphere. This hurts all the living creatures that rely on the plants as food, housing, or water supply. Therefore, the protection of forests is an important mechanism to stop climate change. The two major ways to solve this problem are reforestation and protection from deforestation.
Project:
Beginning in 2023 our project will protect the biodiversity of Gashaka Gumti National Park from deforestation and other harmful activities. Thereby, we will be able to protect wildlife and prevent the emission from millions of tons of CO2. Additionally, people that rely on the national park as water supplier will be able to access clean water for many more years.
